Teachers and caregivers who manage students from difficult backgrounds such as Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs) need to have the ability to manage emotions in times of stress. These children have suffered adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) which have consistently been associated with a range of negative psychological and physical outcomes in both childhood and adulthood. They have trouble understanding and regulating their emotions and the emotions of others. These difficulties adversely affect their success in school, life, and relationships in many different ways. This course will provide participants with the knowledge, skills, and strategies to understand and manage their emotions and those of their students. This online course is designed for orphan care workers, school teachers, ministers, counselors, and any other people who are engaged in providing care to children from difficult backgrounds.
